The fourth edition of the HR Forum was held on April 24, 2008 at Mumbai, India. The event, though already well established in industry circles, was presented with a new face this year. The multi-city event, which was earlier led under the banner of Times Ascent, was positioned nationally and scaled up as the ‘The Times of India HR Forum powered by Times Ascent’.

The event this year shifted focus from the broad and universal subjects of attrition and employee issues to a more relevant and contemporary topics. Themed ‘Shock-proofing and organization’s growth,’ the symposium discussed the transformational role of HR in being the harbinger for ensuring sustained growth of the organization.

Mr. Bhaskar Das, the Executive President of the Times of India Group, delivered the welcome note and handed over the podium, Mr. Arun Maira, the Chairman of Boston Consulting Group, who was Chairman of the HR Forum, 2008.

Under the able guidance of Mr. Maira and Mr. K. Ram Kumar, Group Head of Human Resource at ICICI Bank Ltd. (Co-Chairman of the Forum), the 350-strong delegate group were taken through power-packed presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions on the transformational role of HR in organizations today. The topics for the sessions were based on user-generated content and focused on the employees’ perspectives, instead of the management’s perspective.

Representing the HR function as speakers were a number of distinguished leaders such as Mr. K.V. Kamath, MD & CEO of ICICI Bank Ltd., Capt. G. R. Gopinath, Managing Director of Air Deccan, Mr. Ranjan Das, President & CEO of SAP India, Mr. K. Venkataramanan, Member of Board & President (operations) Larsen & Toubro Ltd., and Mr. Ajay Soni, Business Leader—Talent & Organization Consulting, Hewitt Associates. The HR Forum also saw sponsorships from large players such as the ITM Group of Institution, ICICI Bank, Aptech, SAP, and First Advantage.
